LJC partnered with JBT Marel Corporation to create a new North American headquarters in the landmark 333 West Wacker Drive building. After an extensive site selection and test-fit process across multiple Loop locations, the team helped JBT Marel secure the tower’s top floor, providing a contiguous, light-filled workspace with panoramic views of the Chicago River.
The design reinterprets the company’s traditional office structure into a modern, flexible environment that prioritizes collaboration, transparency, and connection. The interior celebrates the company’s manufacturing roots through cool hues, metal detailing, and geometric repetition.
A hospitality-inspired boardroom suite anchors the workplace, opening into a large meeting and town hall area supported by a back-of-house pantry. Open workstations are positioned along the river-facing perimeter, with enclosed offices and support zones placed strategically within the core. Despite the curved and angular floorplate, the design capitalizes on its character to create a distinctive rhythm throughout the space.
The result is a refined, transformative headquarters that captures JBT Marel’s industrial precision and innovation within one of Chicago’s most recognizable buildings.
