Caterpillar Clayton Distribution Center

Working as an integrated design-build team, Lamar Johnson Collaborative and Clayco were able to deliver this 1.5 million square foot facility in only 10.5 months.

Caterpillar Inc., the world’s leading construction and mining equipment manufacturer, engaged LJC to design and build their new distribution center in Clayton, Ohio. The building provides a platform for Caterpillar to receive various parts from vendors throughout the region, assemble them using a system of cranes, paint/finish and package the parts and then store them or ship them to the retailers or end users. This building is the first of six projects the team completed for Caterpillar using this fast-track approach.

This project achieved LEED Silver Certification by employing sustainable design features such as reflective PVC roofing, low-flush toilets, incorporation of regional materials, landscaping that requires no irrigation, clerestory windows, skylights, and motion daylight-sensing fluorescent light fixtures.
