Through a combination of woven color and health-oriented graphics, the building is branded to promote a healthy work environment.

This value-driven facility consolidates existing administrative office functions currently spread across BJC Kingshighway Campus.

The five-story, steel-framed building features load-bearing, architectural concrete walls through the fourth floor, with the fifth floor and the entire west elevation of the building featuring curtainwall. Curtainwall has been used strategically to highlight skyline views. The concrete walls create visual interest through horizontal and vertical shifts of colored bands creating an illusion of woven materials.

This project achieved LEED Silver Certification. Sustainable design features include all-concrete paving, reflective PVC roof, low-flush toilets, incorporation of regional materials, landscaping that requires no irrigation, clerestory windows, skylights and motion and daylight-sensing fluorescent light fixtures.

Interior Design

The architecture complements the vision and mission of the Cortex Research Park Master Plan with active street level uses and expressive and contextual building architecture.

BJC Healthcare selected Clayco and Lamar Johnson Collaborative to perform design-build services for the core and shell of their new Central Business Office (CBO) in St. Louis’ CORTEX technology park. The 220,000-square-foot facility consolidates existing office functions that were spread across BJC’s Kingshighway campus. Using cast-in-place construction, the facility’s architecture complements the existing buildings in the CORTEX district.
