Confidential Corporate Headquarters
Bannockburn, IL
Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice’s downtown relocation called for a practical approach to workplace design. The goal was to create a more collaborative, welcoming environment while keeping costs in check.
LJC led the interior design and furniture management with a clear strategy: keep the existing architecture intact and invest in higher-impact materials for the most prominent areas. Reception, the café, and an adjacent prefunction area became the face of the suite, designed with a hospitality approach that works for both client meetings and staff interaction throughout the day.
Rethinking the layout unlocked new potential. Moving some offices away from the windows freed up perimeter space for collaborative work areas with improved natural light access. Employees chose their own office accent colors, giving people a sense of ownership over their individual spaces.
A complete restroom renovation during construction improved the daily experience for staff. The project also incorporated sustainable elements, including finishes with recycled content and reuse of existing materials where feasible.
The result is a functional, comfortable workplace that delivers on both employee needs and client expectations without unnecessary spending.
