Thompson Coburn

Thompson Coburn’s renovation is transforming two occupied floors of a landmark Midtown Manhattan high-rise — not just the space, but the way the firm works within it.

The design strategy begins with a simple reallocation: as technology reduces the footprint of storage, libraries, and server rooms, that reclaimed square footage is being redirected toward people. A universal attorney office standard replaces a traditional hierarchy of private offices, giving everyone equal access to natural light, open views, and the kinds of shared environments that support both daily work and client relationships.

The result is a workplace built around connection. A hospitality-inspired environment where attorneys, staff, and clients will move through spaces designed for exchange rather than enclosure.

The building itself shaped the aesthetic direction. Its iconic ribbon windows and streamlined architecture inform an interior language that balances warmth with restraint — refined without being formal, timeless without feeling static. A workplace that reflects not just where the firm is today, but where it’s headed.
