A blend of modern and classic design inspires wonder and fascination.
This boutique luxury apartment development by LJC, in collaboration with Design Architect Chris Cedergreen, is nestled among shops and galleries in the Central West End neighborhood. Marlowe’s classically inspired design marries modern trends and amenities. The building’s interior features bold hues, patterns, and sculptural accents that provide depth and texture, while graphics and artwork inspire wonder, whimsy, and fascination.
Upon entering, residents are greeted by a two-story atrium creating an immediate sense of height and connectivity to the public areas on level two. A mirrored ceiling draws the eye upward, reflecting movement, materials, and patterns throughout the lobby. Overlooking the lobby is a second-floor walking loop that connects coworking spaces with group tables, focus lounge chairs, and conference rooms. One of the design team’s most significant challenges was assessing the common area program amidst the pandemic. The creation of activity-based destinations remained a true hallmark of the design, so the team infused new Zoom Rooms and smaller enclaves for residents to leverage their “new work from home” status.
The culmination of public and social spaces includes a club room, a speakeasy with a hidden door and one-way mirrors, a fitness center, and an outdoor amenity deck with a pool, grilling area, and putting green look down on the bustling neighborhood below. The club room blurs the barrier between indoor and outdoor leisure with a foldable glass wall that opens to the outdoors. The building also features an enclosed parking garage with charging stations for electric vehicles.
Marlowe is owned by Keely Properties and designed by Chris Cedergreen of CEDERGREEN in collaboration with LJC. LJC served as Architect of Record and provided interior and landscape design. HOK provided FF&E and environmental graphic design services.
