DePauw University Master Plan + Residence Hall

1 2 / 2

LJC and Mackey Mitchell Architects have successfully reimagined the Student Housing Master Plan for DePauw University, located on their beautiful 650+ acre campus in Greencastle, Indiana. LJC led the public realm master planning, as well as the design and construction for the Phase 1 residence hall project.

Phase 1 is now complete at the corner of Olive and Locust streets, where the first of four planned residence halls for DePauw’s first-year students has been built. The new 152-bed residence hall and surrounding landscape represent a significant investment in the campus environment, enhancing the student experience, improving pedestrian connectivity, providing dynamic outdoor programming opportunities, and promoting sustainability and biodiversity.

This completed development marks a transformative first step in revitalizing the South Quad and redefining the first-year living experience at DePauw. Future students—drawn to DePauw for its strong academic offerings—will now also experience how a thoughtfully designed, community-oriented residence hall can enrich their overall college journey.
