The East Halls project reflects the institution’s commitment to continually improving the campus and student experience.

Penn State University Park is a beautiful campus that reflects the pride of the faculty, staff, and students. The collection of old and new facilities is woven together with a pedestrian-friendly public realm filled with tradition from a very rich history. This project offers an opportunity to enhance the student life experience by improving the building and site relationship, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, and overall relationship to the campus. Lamar Johnson Collaborative’s design is comprehensive and includes the user experience, the campus public image along East Park Avenue, the multiple campus quadrangles and connections, and the importance of maintenance and operation.

This project will be implemented in multiple phases over 7 years. Major improvements include a new 330-bed residence hall, 13 renovated residence halls, programmed open spaces for active and passive uses, sports courts, dining terraces, and improved pedestrian/vehicular circulation.
