Chicken N Pickle’s entertainment venue at Riverpointe development embodies the vision of integrating high-level site design with the brand’s commitment to quality entertainment and dining experiences. Inspired by the Missouri River landscape, the design reflects the natural beauty of river bluffs and riparian ecosystems, incorporating a stone plinth for the main building and native landscaping throughout the site.
Aimed at providing multi-generational family entertainment, the venue features a central entertainment courtyard with five outdoor pickleball courts, yard games such as bocce ball, a flexible ice skating and lawn area, and an outdoor entertainment stage. The landscape design not only grounds the architecture but also ties it to the local context through regionally native plant materials, such as Bald Cypress trees, which offer filtered shade and visual interest while being resilient to varying environmental conditions.
One of the key challenges in the design process was the site grading, which necessitated creative stormwater management solutions. The vertical grade changes led to the innovative design of a tiered gathering lawn on the northeast corner of the property. Sustainable practices were integral to the project, with the use of native plants reducing the need for supplementary irrigation and maintenance, and bolstering pollinator activity.
LJC’s role in the landscape architecture ensured the seamless integration of the Chicken N Pickle brand into the St. Charles market, providing a unique and engaging entertainment destination that enhances the community’s recreational offerings. The project stands as a testament to thoughtful design and sustainable landscape practices.
