The integrated team replaced the existing curtainwall system on a 10-story office building in Clayton, Missouri. Initially built in the early 1970s, its facade needed to be updated to match the other buildings on the corporate campus.
The existing facade was ¼-inch Gray Tint Plate Glass, which is no longer industry standard. Additionally, its durability has fallen behind safety expectations, and its durability has become a challenge in recent years. The new facade is 1 1/16 inch thick heat-strengthened glass that will be protected with an interior handrail that is integral to the glazing system—mimicking the build on both Building B and Building C on the campus.
The primary difference between the existing glass facade and the new Heat Strengthened glass facade is approximately twice as strong, and around three times as thick.
