Repositioning the revitalized Mercantile Exchange District.

Occupying a full city block, 600 Washington is an anchor building in a burgeoning downtown commercial and residential neighborhood. The urban-focused design for this Class-A corporate tower reorients the building’s entry and lobby toward Washington Ave. Included is a double-height, streetfront retail and open-air public plazas. The exterior facade was redesigned with combinations of colored and fritted glass, metal panels and stone. Triple-story, vertical gardens and sculpture walks are incorporated to enhance the outdoor plazas. The building’s adaptive reuse sustainable strategy included retaining eighty percent of the existing structure.
