LJC provided architecture and structural engineering services for a new 54,000 SF corporate jet hangar at Gary/Chicago International Airport (GCIA), now leased by Wingtip Aviation. Our team developed the project from schematic design through construction documents and construction administration.
The new hangar supports Gary Airport’s broader expansion efforts, attracting new tenants and reinforcing the airport’s role in the region’s economic growth. The pre-engineered metal structure and envelope called for close coordination between LJC’s architecture team and in-house structural engineering group to integrate the aircraft door, foundation, and building systems.
LJC’s design includes a client reception area, office, shop, and lobby space with a mezzanine, finished to a standard office-quality level to support daily operations alongside the hangar bay. LJC brought direct institutional knowledge and a strong working relationship to the project, having extensive experience at GCIA.
