Construction Begins on New Parking Garage for HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center

SCOTTSDALE, AZ (February 3, 2025) – Construction is officially underway on a new four-story parking garage at the HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center campus. National design-build firm Clayco has been selected to construct the new garage in Scottsdale, Arizona. The project aims to improve parking for patients and visitors, ensuring the organization can continue delivering high-quality care and an exceptional experience to our communities.

The garage, which will initially provide 466 parking spaces, is designed with future expansion in mind. A potential fifth floor could increase the total capacity to 592 spaces, further accommodating the growing needs of the campus. The project also includes a pedestrian plaza between the garage and the existing medical center. Featuring café-style seating, the space is designed to serve as a gathering area for visitors and a venue for community events.

“The new parking garage is a critical step in ensuring our patients and visitors have a seamless, stress-free experience from the moment they arrive on campus,” says Riana Kielly, Vice President and Hospital Administrator for HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center. “This parking garage goes beyond solving logistical challenges, it’s about creating an environment where families and patients feel supported, from the parking lot to the patient room. The addition of the pedestrian plaza and gathering spaces further emphasizes our focus on well-being, community and patient experience.”

Constructed with cast-in-place concrete, the garage will feature a second-floor bridge connecting directly to the labor and delivery wing, offering visitors and laboring patients easier access to the labor and delivery department while the first-floor main entrance will be accessible from the ground level. Vehicles will enter the site with a dedicated turn-in from 90th Street, leading to an internal loop road that integrates with the larger campus.

“Building structures that positively impact the communities where we work and live is at the heart of what we do,” said Ryan Abbott, President, Southwest region at Clayco. “This garage represents an investment by HonorHealth in making the Scottsdale Shea Medical Center a world-class destination for years to come. We’re proud to contribute to a project that will enhance the experience of so many people in the community.”

The garage’s design is being led by Lamar Johnson Collaborative, with collectiV Landscape Architects handling the landscape architecture and Dibble providing civil engineering expertise. DHE is the mechanical, plumbing and electrical contractor while PKA is serving as the structural engineer.

Construction is expected to be completed Q4 2025.
