Restoring and repurposing a 100-year old landmark into a boutique hotel.
Hotel Vandivort is the first centrally-located boutique hotel in downtown Springfield, Missouri. Phase One included repurposing the structure—a former Masonic Temple—into a boutique hotel. Lamar Johnson Collaborative worked with the client to preserve the historic character of the building while incorporating modern efficiencies necessary to achieve LEED Gold certification. In Phase Two, the client asked LJC to expand the hotel with a new four-story building adjacent to the original Hotel Vandivort to accommodate 48 additional guest rooms, 15 of which are suites.
The crown jewel of Phase Two is the Vantage Rooftop Lounge and Conservatory, a 2,600 square-foot, 4-seasons food and beverage restaurant and bar that offers 180-degree views of downtown Springfield. Inside, Art Deco meets modern design using dark woods, brass accents, diamond-shaped wall sconces, black and white flooring, and pops of color with vibrant emerald green plush chairs. The expansive skylight and large windows showcase unobstructed views so that patrons can enjoy the naturally illuminated space year-round. The result brings well-curated décor and ambiance to one of Springfield’s newest hot spots.
